The Joust
Our Jousts recreate the thrill of a true historic tournament. Witness knights in shining armor wielding weapons of war atop mighty warhorses for thine entertainment! Cheer for thy champion amid the pomp and pageantry of a martial competition that has fired imaginations for more than five hundred years!  

Presented by: The Jousters (All Season)
The Jousters have an entertainingly fresh take on a very old sport. These knights are excited to bring their fully-armored, hard-hitting, and wholly unique style of jousting to the Faire. Combined with bold attitudes and fierce competition, this is a true sport. Every lance break and shield shatter achieved is done in an authentic quest for victory!

Put yourself in the middle of the action with VIP Seating at the Roselawn Tournament Joust Field! Enjoy the Royal Treatment with covered seating, a bottle of water and an exclusive souvenir. Tickets are $5 per person/per Joust and may be purchased at the Information Booth in the Village Green.  Seating is limited to 300 people per show. Joust performances are at 12:002:30, & 6:00. VIP seating opens 30 minutes before each show.

Aaron Bonk – Fire Whips & Swords
Guinness World Record holding whip artist Aaron Bonk is a unique entertainer with a twisted sense of humor who risks his life to make you laugh. With stupefying acts of juggling, whip cracking, danger and craziness, he will amuse and amaze the whole family with his world renown stunt show spectacular. Machetes, whips, swords and fire–the hottest show in all the ‘Shire!

Acrobatrix is a two person comedy circus spectacular! Bending, flipping and flying through the air — the show is action packed from start to finish. Stahr is a quirky contortionist and Thunder is a witty acrobat. They are the perfect couple, but there are only two things that can ruin this relationship: he’s one and she’s the other.

Ded Bob!

“Dedly” Humor! Bob and his faithful dummy Sluj use unsuspecting audience members to assist in Mischievous & Outrageous Comedy! The hardest working cadaver in show business is back with all matters bawdy and profane. Corpse comedy and audience interaction at their finest! 

Combat Chess
The greatest combatants in Sterling Shire cross blades, trade blows and strain sinew, all for Her Majesty’s entertainment, and thine, in these rollicking contests of strategy and skill! Presented by the NYRF Fight Guild. Twice daily.

Chit Chat
Our elegant Mayor, ever eager to present entertainment of unique interest to her visitors, hosts the song and dance spectacular that transcends both time and taste, Chit Chat!

The Fairies are back in Sterlingshire! These gentle spirits of nature bestow fairy blessings upon all.
Discover the Faire Fairy Folk around the village or discover them in the Enchanted Forest on Forest Walk.

Shakespeare Approves!
Where there’s a Will, there’s a play! Join your friendly neighbourhood Shakespeare as he takes you on adventures full of merriment: sword fights, mistaken identities, star-cross’d lovers, flying implements of doom, musical numbers, death by fluffy kittens, and being pursued by a bear!  These Shakespearean adventures are sure to delight audiences of all ages.

NEW The Lynx Show (September 8 -30)
The Lynx Show is a unique blend of magic, sword swallowing and comedy. Lynx is a veteran when it comes to performing at Renaissance festivals across the country. Not only is there audience interaction and participation but a strong positive message at the end. From death defying feats of amazement to bewildering moments that just can’t be explained, The Lynx Show is sure to thrill you!

Sky Kings Falconry
Sky Kings Falconry presents an amazing free flying falconry and birds of prey demonstration. This awe inspiring show takes place ABOVE the audience featuring hawks, owls, falcons, and vultures! Feel the gust of wind rustle your hair while you experience flight, from stage to perch, in this 5000 year old “Sport of Kings”. Take part and witness the beauty of each bird, discover their history and special skills. You will learn about these majestic raptors up close in an exciting and family friendly presentation. Sky Kings is brought to you by Wildlife Revealed, a 501-c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the education and preservation of our planet’s wildlife. All Season.

Washing Well Wenches
The Washing Well Wenches take up residence in the Shire of Sterling to earn a living by cleaning laundry… or by marrying a wealthy man. This naughty and tempestuous twoseome will win your hearts with a rollicking, laugh-filled, one of a kind show! All Season.

Stewart & Arnold Knife Throwing
Blades and jokes fly as this father & son duo risk their lives for your amusement! Celebrating more than 30 years performing together! All Season.

NEW The Jackdaws (Sept. 22/23, 29/30)
The Jackdaws deliver original, contemporary, and traditional Irish Rock to audiences across the land. This trailblazing trio will excite and have you coming back for more with their driving melodies and relentlessly aggressive lyrics. More Irish than a drunken roar, and a damned sight messier, meet The Jackdaws.

The Royal Pipers
This group, composed of the popular pipers Larry Cole, Christa Patton, and Peter Walker, perform pavannes and other precious pieces for your particular pleasure! All Season.

The Legend of Robin Hood
Heroes, like swords, are forged in fire. The villainous Sheriff of Nottingham and his thuggish Guards rule the highways and byways of Sterling Shire with an iron fist. Are you prepared to help Robin Hood, his beloved Maid Marian and the Merry Band of heroic Outlaws put an end to the Sheriff’s tyranny once and for all? Follow the ALL-NEW swashbuckling adventures of Robin Hood throughout the Faire day, especially at our Combat Chess Matches and the Final Showdown prior to the Royal joust.

The Court of Queen Elizabeth
Our beloved Sovereign, Elizabeth, hath arrived in Sterling Shire seeking romance, music and adventure! Feast and frolic with Her entourage. Delight in theater, song and banter as only the most refined minds in England can set forth.

Blackenshear the Curious!
Comedy and amazing magic are what you can expect at a Blackenshear show delivered in his dry laid back style. Entertaining and engaging for audiences of all ages, this seasoned performer and consummate entertainer will win you over with his award winning comedy act!

NEW Wine and Alchemy (August 18- Sept. 9)
Wine and Alchemy is a unique world music band, performing original and traditional music derived from a wide variety of times and cultures including Greek, Roma (Gypsy), Celtic, Medieval European, French, Sephardic, Turkish, Scandinavian, and others.

Playing a wide mix of musical styles, Charry evokes the primitive, magical spirit of the Andes with his many indigenous folk instruments, including charango, birimbao, cuatro, pan pipes, percussion, and more!

Cirque de Sewer
The world’s only acrobat, rat, and confused cat show! Welcome Cirque du Sewer for the most unique comedy acrobatics that must be seen to be believed!

The Tortuga Twins
The internationally renowned Tortuga Twins (all three of them) bring their outrageous style of comedy to the New York Renaissance Faire. Beware! They have been called “Asthma-attack-inducingly funny.”

Gi Shiata (Deception Theater)
Sleight of hand artist Bret Blackshear creates interactive mysteries with cards, rings, coins, thimbles, and rope. Watch him and you will say simply “wow”. Performing throughout the village. All Season

Jeremiah Wiggins
Jeremiah Wiggins close up magician, storyteller, and human ambassador to the faerie realm. While Jeremiah seems to be a human fantasy jukebox his true agenda is educating folk in the needs of the little people and getting himself elected again. He is recognizable by his very large mushroom, the soapbox upon which he stands. If you don’t believe in faeries before you have met Wiggins you most likely will after. This multidimensional traveller has been performing at Renaissance and faerie festivals for over twenty years. 

The Raven
The Raven is a black feathered bird man that flies on top of a ball using Kung Fu fans for wings. He swoops down and invites his audience into his world of “eggstroardinary” magic. Joshua Safford has been playing the Raven at Renaissance festivals for almost two decades mesmerizing folk with an unusual blend of close up magic, clowning, and circus skills. 

Maypole/Peasant Dance
Come be a part of the magic as shire residents (and a few from the Greenwood!) dance the Maypole! Fun for adults and children. All Season.

Eddie Jeff Cahill
Eddie Jeff brings dignity and pride to the ancient craft of the traveling singer-poet-storyteller. Aug 6 – Sept 25.

The Freestylers of Piping
Bagpipes are so much more than amazing grace! Feast your ears on the creative improvisations that flow through the familiar tunes of The Freestylers of Piping and you’ll never think of pipes the same way again.


Kathleen Finnegan
Kathleen brings music of the past alive with the magic of the Irish harp. In ancient tradition music had the power to bring joy, sorrow, and peace, all of which Kathleen delights to share. Experience beloved music of the Celtic, ancient, and classical traditions, some familiar and some that is new again. 

Lady Prudence, Court Composer
With Songs for All Occasions, Lady Prudence will sing a song to suit any mood, be it love, loss, food, drink, monsters, or a dance tune, with the help of harp, whistle, and shaker! Find her by the Kissing Bridge and you may earn her favour, or even join the band! 

Vince Conaway, Dulcimer
Hammered Dulcimer Player: Performing original, traditional, and historical music on hammered dulcimer, coupling the passion of Celtic music with the stateliness of ancient forms. All Season.

Matthew Young, the Pride of Ireland
Singing songs that are Irish, and songs that wish they were, “The Pride of Ireland” brings the mirth and magic of the Emerald Isle to Sterling Shire.

Blanche-Dorothea-Rose: Mayoress of Sterling Shire and Countess of the Golden Isles of Montgomery, is a proud mother, a social activist for the peasantry, and a philanthropist involved in charities throughout all of England.

From his secret encampment in the Greenwood, this bold outlaw leads a ragtag band of outcasts dedicated to protecting the peasants of Sterling Shire from the vile Sheriff of Nottingham.

Lady Marian Fitzwalter of Castle Dunmow

While Maid Marian has given her heart — and her strong sword arm! — to Robin Hood you may often find her dancing feet and golden voice at the Maypole!

The Merry Outlaw Band

Join the legendary Outlaw Band — Little John, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, Jenny Wren, Alan-A-Dale, Fanny Little, David of Doncaster and Tom Sparrow — on their rollicking adventures in the Greenwood!

The Guards of Sterling Shire

No purse is safe from these tax-happy brutes! Find them training with sword, knife, axe and whip at the Sheriff’s encampment.

Philip De Marque, the Sheriff of Nottingham

He IS the law.  Along with his villainous sister Valentina and hired sword Guy de Gisbourne, Philip de Marque makes his fortune off the taxes of the cities of Sterling Shire!

The Buccaneers of Pirate’s Cove

Kids’ Quest

Join the Fairies! Brave and imaginative children are invited on an interactive fantasy adventure! Help the Faerie Folk discover the magic in their home, the Enchanted Forest.  Each child receives a gift from the Fairies at the end of their quest!
30-minute Quests start at 11:30 am1:00 pm3:00 pm and 5:00 pm

Learn sword combat from the greatest fighters in the realm, and test your skills against our trained mercenaries! Continue your quest for adventure through the Shire! Find out how at the Boffer Wars Adventure Tent
