The Joust

Our Jousts recreates the thrill of a true historic tournament. Witness knights in shining armor wielding weapons of war atop mighty warhorses for thine entertainment! Cheer for thy champion amid the pomp and pageantry of a martial competition that has fired imaginations for more than five hundred years! All Season.

Put yourself in the middle of the action with VIP Seating at the Roselawn Tournament Joust Field! Enjoy the Royal Treatment with covered seating, a bottle of water and an exclusive souvenir. Tickets are $5 per person/per Joust! Seating is limited to 300 people per joust and may be purchased at the Information Booth in the Village Green. Joust tournaments are scheduled for 2:30 pm and 6 pm. VIP seating opens 30 minutes before each show.

Gi Shiata (Deception Theater)

Jeremiah Wiggins
Jeremiah Wiggins close up magician, storyteller, and human ambassador to the faerie realm. While Jeremiah seems to be a human fantasy jukebox his true agenda is educating folk in the needs of the little people and getting himself elected again. He is recognizable by his very large mushroom, the soapbox upon which he stands. If you don’t believe in faeries before you have met Wiggins you most likely will after. This multidimensional traveller has been performing at Renaissance and faerie festivals for over twenty years. August 27 – Sept 25.

Joust Spectacular
Swords and shields! Flags and drums! The entire village of Sterling turns out in martial array to welcome Queen Elizabeth and her Court to the Royal Joust. All Season.

Maypole/Peasant Dance
Come be a part of the magic as shire residents (and a few from the Greenwood!) dance the Maypole! Fun for adults and children. All Season.

The Raven
The Raven is a black feathered bird man that flies on top of a ball using Kung Fu fans for wings. He swoops down and invites his audience into his world of “eggstroardinary” magic. Joshua Safford has been playing the Raven at Renaissance festivals for almost two decades mesmerizing folk with an unusual blend of close up magic, clowning, and circus skills. August 27 – Sept 25.

The Dread Crew of Oddwood
The Dread Crew of Oddwood is a pirate themed band that blends Heavy Metal, Celtic Rock, and Folk Punk with a unique acoustic instrumentation to proclaim a new genre: Heavy Mahogany. Embarking from San Diego in 2008, this bloodthirsty horde has accumulated a commendable cult following in the musical underground of Southern California, and is rapidly gaining infamy throughout the far corners of the world. Sept 10 – 18.

Eddie Jeff Cahill

Eddie Jeff brings dignity and pride to the ancient craft of the traveling singer-poet-storyteller. Aug 6 – Sept 25.

The Freestylers of Piping

Bagpipes are so much more than amazing grace! Feast your ears on the creative improvisations that flow through the familiar tunes of The Freestylers of Piping and you’ll never think of pipes the same way again. August 20 – Oct 2.

Kathleen brings music of the past alive with the magic of the Irish harp. In ancient tradition music had the power to bring joy, sorrow, and peace, all of which Kathleen delights to share. Lady Prudence, Court Composer
With Songs for All Occasions, Lady Prudence will sing a song to suit any mood, be it love, loss, food, drink, monsters, or a dance tune, with the help of harp, whistle, and shaker! Find her by the Kissing Bridge and you may earn her favour, or even join the band! Aug 6 – 28, Sept. 3 – 25.

Fiddler’s Tales
This solo artist with international flair serenades with Scottish, Irish, English and Russian folk songs. She infuses vivacity and sheer joy in her love of music.

St. Marks Consort

Rosemary Birardi & Bob LePre play period recorder and percussion, leading the accompaniment for Court Dance, Pastoral Dance, Maypole and the Joust. All season.

Vince Conaway, Dulcimer
Hammered Dulcimer Player: Performing original, traditional, and historical music on hammered dulcimer, coupling the passion of Celtic music with the stateliness of ancient forms. All Season.
