Casting Call: Join the cast of the 2013 Renaissance Pleasure Faire

Classes and rehearsals begin March 9, 2013. The Faire runs weekends from April 6 through May 19, 2013.

Singers, Musicians & Variety Performers

We are seeking talented, dynamic, interactive musicians, singers, variety performers/acts, acrobats and unusual performers. Musicians are needed with early music repertoire (both English and World) to help create the "sound track" and ambience of the faire as strolling or stationary performers. The use of period instruments is strongly suggested but not required.

Featured Characters

We are seeking fun loving, energetic and imaginative performers / singers to become one of our many featured strolling characters, from comedian to villain, noble to peasant. If you have an interesting character you feel would enhance our show, we want to see it.

Towns Folk

We are seeking fun loving, energetic and imaginative performers to portray and represent the varied zany citizens of all classes of our Elizabethan English port town.

This is an improv audition so please come dressed and ready for movement and if you have any special talents that you would like to demonstrate for us, Please be ready to do so.

Fantastikals

We are seeking energetic, creative and imaginative individuals to portray the Faye of Elizabethan and Shakespearian lore.  You will become “Such stuff as dreams are made on”.  The Fantastikals will interact with over 1000 customers every day of the faire.

We are seeking actors with: strong movement skills, imagination, love of nature (both earth and human), lots of stamina, positive attitude and team spirit and excitement for a completely unique performance opportunity. 

For your audition (in addition to normal requirements): a 2-minute movement piece: no music. no speech: please show as much variety of movement and emotion as possible while portrayng a non-human character in a little story with a beginning, a middle, and an end.  Opportunity for pay possible but not guaranteed.

Variety Acts / Featured Character Auditions / Fantastikals:

Audition Requirements:

~ Every performer auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of any song from Happy Birthday, your favorite opera or anything in between. All performers will sing at some time during the faire day, usually as a group. Please do not let this stop you from auditioning. 
~ Every performer must recite a memorized monologue no longer than 45 seconds (preferably from a stage play).
~ Every performer must also be prepared to participate in acting improvisation exercises.
~ Theatre, music, song and improvisational skills are a plus as you will be interacting with fellow cast members and the audience.
