The
history of the Band of the Twisted Claw, as recorded by Reginald, apprentice
lore-singer of the Band of the Twisted Claw, written three days after the
Betrayal of Feodras, which took place beneath the auspice of the eclipsis
solaris in this the third year since the slaying of Bloodtharken
the Evil. |

The events of the final battle of the Dragon War scattered the survivors far across the land. Slowly, the tattered remnants of the Band of the Twisted Claw made their way back to Bloodtharken’s Den, the tavern now named in honor of their one-time foe. First to return was Talia Tale, chief lore-singer and second-in-command of the tactical forces of the Band of the Twisted Claw. Injured but able, she took notice of this lowly scribe, quietly writing at a poorly lit table in the back of the tavern. She told me the tales of the Band of the Twisted Claw and requested that I record them for history. Those tales have been collected in many volumes; in this volume, I shall attempt to record, for the first time, the events I have personally seen so that the legend of the Band of the Twisted Claw is not lost to time, and if such time should come that the band is destroyed, I hope that my words might inspire brave souls to once again pick up the mantle of the Band.
The events leading up to the Betrayal of Feodras, on the day of the eclipsis solaris, begin not three months prior, quite near the day of the Feast of St. David, patron saint of Wales. Mistress Talia, whom I have previously identified, though who was now the leader of the Band of the Twisted Claw, the previous leader having left, disheartened at the loss of so many lives, along with Falconis Corval, Champion of the Dragon, and Feodras the Mage gathered at Bloodtharken’s Den to begin the task of rebuilding the Band of the Twisted Claw. Over many noggins of rum, whiskey, and beer it was decided that the Band of the Twisted Claw needed to recruit both warriors and mages to achieve success. To do this, Feodras suggested that the three split up: Feodras would seek a powerful mage to train new recruits in the mystical energies; Falconis would seek an experienced warrior to build a military force the Band could use to defend itself and achieve its goals; Talia would remain in Pt. Deptford and recruit hearty adventurers to fill the ranks of the Band, and begin to rebuild the camp. The three parted ways – Feodras and Falconis would each search for no more than six months, and would send any potential recruits they met to Talia.
