Snap a unique family photo at the following three places: the Sword in the Stone near the Souvenir Shop, the Village Pillory near the Village Bakery, and the Queen’s Landing at the beginning of Spende Penny Lane.
From the magical pages of The Storybook Stage spring wild and wonderful tales, told by peasants, puppets, pirates, and princesses! Don’t miss Faerie Story Time, the Children’s Knighting Ceremony, or the chance to join Robin Hood’s Merry Band! Be sure to arrive early to join Kid’s Quest, the magical mini quest led by the shire’s Fae.
Join in the dances at the Maypole throughout the day as led by Maid Marian, the Fae, and Pirates!
Our Chessboard is full of action sure to delight everyone, and includes a day-long story for those who are looking for the plot! Catch the Pastoral Dancing, the Children’s Games, and the Living Chess Matches (twice a day)! If you missed one, join us at “Our Faire Shire” for a summary of the day as told through comedy, song, and dance, then stick around for the culmination at the final Chess Match!
Hang around after the joust to meet a jouster and see the horses!
Add a little education to your family field trip with the falconry show, the glassblowing and blacksmithing demonstrations, and the crafter demos throughout the day in our marketplace!
Get into the swing of things with human-powered rides for all ages! Play a game of skill or chance in the Gaming Glen! Family favorites in no particular order: Fight a Knight at Swordmaster’s Challenge, ride a giant sea dragon or pirate ship swing, journey to the dragon of the lake on the paddle boats, and get your face painted or a new henna design with our enchanting artists.
Even picky eaters will enjoy chicken nuggets, quesadillas, burgers, pizza, and watermelon slices. We also offer vegan and vegetarian options, as well as gluten-free choices for those with food sensitivities. Please check with the food booth management in cases of extreme allergy. The Guardians of Sterling, our volunteer support guild, have set aside an area in their garden for any nursing mothers (and babies!) who would like the option of a quiet place away from the bustle of a Faire day. The Guardians of Sterling Garden is located on the Queen’s Highway next to the Peacock Pavilion.
